Tofino Oyster Festival 2026: Fall Starts Here

Tofino Oyster Festival 2026

There’s something special about fall on the West Coast. The summer crowds have thinned, the storms begin rolling across the Pacific, fireplaces are crackling again, and Tofino settles into one of its most delicious seasons.

And there may be no better way to kick it off than the Tofino Oyster Festival.

Returning November 27–29, 2026, the festival is a three-day celebration of oysters, coastal food, local talent, and the incredible bounty of our region. It’s equal parts culinary weekend, community gathering, and good old-fashioned Tofino fun.

Oysters are at the heart of it, of course, but the festival is really a celebration of where we live. Vancouver Island and the surrounding coast produce some of the finest seafood anywhere, and the weekend brings together growers, shuckers, chefs, restaurants, residents, and visitors to celebrate that connection between ocean, food, and community.

And the 2026 weekend is stacked. Get your tickets HERE!

Friday, November 27 🧜‍♀️ The Mermaid’s Ball

The weekend begins with a splash.

The Mermaid’s Ball kicks off Oyster Fest with a night that embraces Tofino’s wonderfully weird, creative coastal spirit. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up, gather your crew, shake off the November rain and dive headfirst into festival weekend.

Think ocean-inspired revelry, great food and drinks, music, dancing, and just the right amount of mermaid magic.

This is Tofino, after all. We don’t need much encouragement to dress up or throw a party in November.

Saturday, November 28 🥂 The Oyster Gala

Saturday is the centrepiece of the weekend: The Oyster Gala.

This is where the bounty of the coast truly gets its moment in the spotlight. Expect oysters (lots of them) alongside incredible food, drinks, local flavours and the people who make the West Coast culinary scene what it is.

The Gala is a chance to taste your way through the region, discover new favourites, raise a glass with friends and celebrate the growers, harvesters, chefs and makers behind the food on your plate.

Come hungry.

Sunday, November 29 🦪 The Shuckers Showdown

Then comes Sunday… and things get competitive.

The Shuckers Showdown puts the skill of oyster shucking front and centre as competitors go head-to-head for speed, precision and bragging rights.

If you’ve never watched a serious oyster shucking competition, prepare to be surprised by just how exciting it gets. The shells start flying, the crowd gets loud and suddenly everyone has very strong opinions about shucking technique.

It’s a fitting finale to a weekend devoted to one of the coast’s greatest delicacies.

A Celebration of the Coast

What makes the Tofino Oyster Festival special isn’t simply what’s being served. It’s the place behind it.

This corner of the coast has an extraordinary relationship with the ocean. Seafood is part of our economy, our food culture and our identity. Tofino Oyster Fest brings those connections together for one weekend and gives us a chance to celebrate the people, waters and communities that make this region so remarkable.

It’s also a pretty great reason to visit Tofino in the fall.

November here means dramatic skies, pounding surf, misty rainforest walks and cozy evenings indoors. Add three days of oysters, food, drinks, costumes, competition and celebration, and you’ve got one of the best weekends of the season.

So grab your raincoat, bring your appetite and start thinking about that Mermaid’s Ball outfit.
