By Land and Sea
It’s true what they say about Tofino being at the end of the road — the scenic Pacific Rim Highway, to be exact. Drive this two-lane highway (also known as B.C. Highway 4) from Port Alberni directly to Tofino. Just be sure to check for occasional road construction and delays along the way. As this is the only road into Tofino, please be mindful of checking for updates.
Driving From Vancouver
Take a BC Ferry from either the Horseshoe Bay terminal or the Tsawwassen terminal (if you’re coming from YVR) to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
From Nanaimo, follow Highway 19 North until you see signs for Highway 4 toward Port Alberni/Tofino. Follow Highway 4 (Pacific Rim Highway) until you reach Hellesen Drive in Tofino — turn left and Ocean Village awaits you at the end of the road, right on Mackenzie Beach.
Driving from the U.S.
You can reach us from Washington State via two routes: drive across the border to B.C. at the Peace Arch Crossing and follow instructions towards BC Ferries Terminals from there, or take a Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, WA (roughly 2.5 hour drive north-west of Seattle) to Victoria (located on Vancouver Island).
If choosing the ferry route, you would then drive north towards Port Alberni, and follow signs for Highway 4 (Pacific Rim Highway) to Tofino.
By Air
Arriving in Tofino via direct flight can be a visual delight with (weather permitting) breathtaking views of the forested peninsula, coastal beaches and island mountains. Arrive at our local YAZ Long Beach Airport to kick-off your vacation as quickly as possible. Enjoy convenient, regularly scheduled air service on select carriers from YAZ to Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle.
In the high season only (May – October), Harbour Air also offers a regularly scheduled seaplane flight between downtown Vancouver (departing from Coal Harbour, not YVR International Airport) and “downtown” Tofino, landing you directly at the Tofino Marina.
